Synopsis of the play.
Adam Lessing goes to a computer matchmaking
company and is convinced by the manager, Newton Powers, to try the service.
Adam's match is made with Sylvia Edenfield, but, to his surprise, she is black.
Adam is white, and he has some definite reservations about making a date with
his selected mate. After much insisting, Newton convinces Adam that the computer
is very expensive and could not have made a mistake. Adam decides to take Sylvia
out.
The first date is not spectacular, but he
decides to take Sylvia out again, then again, and again. Adam falls in love with
Sylvia. Adam reveals, to Newton, his love for Sylvia and thanks him for
insisting that he go out with her. Newton tells Adam that a malfunction has been
found in the computer. Adam feels betrayed by the computer, but Newton insists
that the malfunction is inconsequential, now that he loves Sylvia.
